Porsche sues Florida Dealer for releasing Trade Secrets
A news report indicates that Porsche Cars North America is suing Champion Porsche for releasing trade secrets. For the full report - click here
The suit alleges that dealership representatives attended a meeting for Porsche Dealers that was hosted in Atlanta and images from the event's PowerPoint presentation appeared on the Dealership's website. The dealership complied with Porsche's request to remove the images but by the time the images were removed more than 40 other websites published the images and the damage had already been done. While I know some OEMs are more restrictive than others when it comes to "non-disclosure agreements" and information about future product this is the first circumstance I'm aware of where an OEM has filed suit against one of their dealers. It's not clear what damages Porsche Cars of North America is demanding but they contend that Champion Porsche had a duty to maintain the confidentiality of the conference and that the material posted was covered by the Georgia Trade Secrets Act. |
