Question No tears for Eliot Spitzer?

As a West Coast guy most of what I know about Eliot Spitzer is what I read on the Internet or see while watching CNBC. All I know about are the big stories that attract national coverage.

Based on what I was reading last night, however, it appears that Mr. Spitzer was no friend to the retail car business. Some people suggested that he focused on car dealers early on in his political life because they were popular targets with voters.

I'd be curious to hear from some East Coast people. Did Mr. Spitzer attack car dealers for personal political gain or is that an unfair assessment?
