Toyota to Put Large Sign on Wrigley Field
http://www.chicagotribune.com/busine...,6417855.story
I just had to start a post on this because I'm a die hard Cubs fan and not a firm believer that this type of advertising actually has any effect on brand image or sales. What does everyone else think? Does a sign like this attached to a perennial loser have any sort of positive effect? Is it worth the money that will eventually flow down to the dealers? |

When I first read your thread I was generally supportive of this type of advertising. I was thinking about Safeco Stadium where the Seattle Mariners play and Qwest Field where the Seahawks play.
Then I read the report you linked and changed my mind. It seems clear that the people of Chicago love Wrigley Field and it would be a mistake for Toyota to alter the stadium with a huge sign. So, I guess my opinion would be each case needs to be evaluated individually. My favorite spectator sport is College Football and I always pay attention to the scoreboard at the beginning of the game when they list the local dealers who provide cars to the coaches. I think most fans would rather buy a car from a dealer who supports their local team. |
