Default Denny Hecker Chevrolet Store Re-Opens

http://www.kare11.com/news/news_arti...0050&catid=396

A brand new auto dealership in Inver Grove Heights has given new hope to dozens of former employees of auto giant Denny Hecker.

On Monday, Bill Mauer -- brother of Twins catcher, Joe Mauer -- opened his first dealership on the site of the former Hecker Southview dealership. Shortly after buying his business, the new owner decided to hire back more than half of those people who lost their jobs when Hecker's dealership closed its doors.

***Great to see some people back to work that Denny Hecker Screwed. XDCX can not believe you missed this store on Auto News Today.

Now how does a 29 year old get the capital to reopen a Hecker store. I'm thinking his brother has to have his hand in the operations. But in reports it states that he does not.***

A- Who would lend any money for a Chrysler Dealership?
B- Who would borrow any money for a Chrysler dealership?
C- Having no answers for A and B, my best guess, not knowing about the market, maybe it was free.

All valid points, except in this case the thread's about a CHEVROLET dealership.

Yeah, I've been following the Hecker saga but I haven't been keeping the forum updated. It's times like this that I wish the forum had 1,000+ active members because I'm sure there were tons of people who knew Hecker's empire was on shakey ground.

Even the stories about his wife, his divorce and his girlfriend all would have made for interesting AREA 51 stories.

Concerning a 29 year old Dealer Principal, I'm betting he got money from his brother too. That said, I wish him the best of luck. The newspaper report indicated he was a Sales Manager for Hecker so it must feel pretty good for him to be able to re-open the store and provide jobs for some of his old co-workers.

100th Post

I would go out and get Capital for a Chrysler or GM Dealership becasue I believe in the product that is coming out of Auburn Hills, MI and Detroit, MI. And I'm only 25 years young.

Congrats on the 100th post - Thanks for being part of the forum.

Concerning being 25 years old and having faith for the future success of GM and Chrysler, I think that's awesome. That said, I think there can be some real lessons learned on this forum about not being tied too tight to any one OEM - just look what's happening to the Toyota dealers right now.

For what it's worth, my bet is the future of the car business will be heavily influenced by the Internet and will result in fewer dealers carrying more franchises.
