Chrysler Canada reinvents Gold Key Plus?

I just read a news report indicating that Chrysler Canada has launched a new Customer Choice Financing program, something they proclaim is a breakthrough in vehicle financing. For the full report - click here

I read the report and to me it sounds exactly like the old Gold Key Plus program Chrysler Financial used to offer years ago. I wonder who underwrites deals for Chrysler Canada - it can't be GMAC can it?

Concerning Gold Key Plus, I knew some dealers that used to do big numbers with that program - especially with the Ram Trucks, Dakotas and Grand Cherokees.

Big numbers is an understatement...it killed my area when they shut that down. We were running around 60% of our sales that way.

Same scenario with a store I used to call on in Hawaii - Gold Key Plus was huge.

Hawaii is unique to the extent that leasing has a negative connotation because a lot of the homes there are on leasehold property - you own the home but lease the dirt.

Gold Key Plus allowed the dealers to get past that objection. The only downside I would see today is the sales tax issue - that would still favor a traditional lease.

Are there any lenders out there today in the U.S. that offer a Gold Key Plus type program?
