Predict the number of 2014 Jeep Cherokees sold in November and Win!
 

The challenge for this contest will be to predict the total number of 2014 Jeep Cherokees sold in the United States for the month of November, 2014. (Retail sales plus Fleet sales)

In many ways the launch of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee is unique because the initial production vehicles were in containment for two months and then released to the dealers in one huge wave. By contrast, most new vehicle launches result in the dealers only receiving a trickle of new inventory while the assembly plant ramps up production.

Will the containment issue help or hinder the sales of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee in November? Time will tell....

I'm still working on the contest rules and the award details. I'll lock this thread for now and re-open it for participation once I've laid out the Contest Rules in post #2 and the Award Details in post #3.

Here are the details:

• Closest guess to the number of 2014 Jeep Cherokees sold in the U.S. (over or under) for the month of November, 2014 as reported by Chrysler will be the winner.
• Total sales volume includes both Retail and Fleet sales.
• In the event of a tie, the earliest entry will be the winner.
• Members can enter more than once but only the last entry will be considered for the contest.
• Entries for the contest will be accepted until 12/01/13 at 11:59 PM East Coast Time - Now extended until 12/02/13 at 11:59 PM East Coast Time

Award Details - Win up to a $100 Gift Card
 

Our member who has the closest guess (over or under) will win a $25 Gift Card for whatever company/product they choose. :)

As an added incentive, if the member who has the correct guess has added a post to at least one other thread on DealershipForum during the contest period I'll double the about of the Gift Card to $50.

I had planned on creating the thread over the weekend but I ran out of time working on some other projects so I figured I had better get it done last night.

Tonight I'll work on sending an email message to our members letting them know about the contest and hopefully generate some more traffic (and posts/threads) for the forum.

You'll probably want to adjust your estimate to include Fleet Sales too. :)

Unfortunately, Chrysler (like most OEMs) doesn't break-out their vehicle sales by retail and fleet when they release their sales results. The only number they publish is their total sales by vehicle line.

I'm sure many of our members have sources within their Business Center or Auburn Hills that could provide the actual retail sales for the 2014 Cherokee, but I'd rather rely on a published number for the purposes of this contest.

According to the report Chrysler sold just under 600 Jeep Cherokees last month and they built just under 36,000 through October.

I'm going to lower my expectations from another thread and say 5,500.

By way of comparison, here's how the Jeep models fared for October, 2013:

• Liberty = 0
• Cherokee = 579
• Compass = 4,176
• Patriot = 5,581
• Wrangler = 11,780
• Grand Cherokee = 14,263

Note: This is the same source that will be utilized to determine the actual number of 2014 Jeep Cherokees sold in the U.S. for the month of November, 2013.

I'll go with 6,351...the wild card being that they might dump a bunch to fleet at the last minute is sales aren't high enough.

I'll go 7423 if fleet is included.

I'll stick to that. A lot of people that were in market 60~90 days ago when they were supposed to come out went elsewhere.
