Forum Rules and Recommendations

Welcome to DealershipForum.com:

This website is dedicated to the professionals that work in the Retail Automotive Industry. Accordingly, membership is restricted to those that either work at or own their own Dealership.

Forum Rules:

As a member of DealershipForum.com you agree that you will not post any of the following material:
  • Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member.
  • Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language or images. (This includes efforts to defeat the language filter.)
  • Any communication that contains SPAM.
  • Material that defames, abuses or threatens others.
  • Statements that are bigoted, hateful or racially offensive.
  • Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them.
  • Unauthorized copyrighted material.
  • Unauthorized advertising or any form of commercial solicitation.
  • Material that impedes or otherwise prohibits communication.
Statements or postings that violate the above terms will be deleted upon discovery. While we may attempt to notify you if we move or delete a post, we are under no obligation to do so. Depending on the nature of the violation, DealershipForum.com at their sole discretion may terminate a customer's account.

Forum Recommendations:

An Internet based Forum provides an excellent platform for people to communicate, express opinions and share knowledge. There are, however, limitations that must be taken into consideration.

The following recommendations are intended to enhance the experience of both the guests and Members of DealershipForum.com:
  • Use the Search Engine before you start a new thread. In many cases the same question or topic may have already been addressed. Posting multiple threads with the same basic topic makes the Forums cluttered and difficult to navigate.
  • Use smilies :) or other notations to express the "tone" of your post. Perhaps the greatest limitation of an Internet based Forum is the difficulty expressing the "tone" of your post through the written word. Many times a slightly sarcastic response that was posted in fun is misinterpreted as a personal attack. If you absolutely hate smilies, you can use "j/k" at the end of your post to indicate "Just kidding" or "lol" to indicate "Laughing out loud."
  • Make certain that your posts "add value" to the topic. Some Forums have Members that will respond to dozens of posts with meaningless comments in an effort to increase their post count - this activity is commonly referred to as "post whoring." The result is a cluttered Forum and angry Members who may have "subscribed" to a tread with the E-mail notification system.
  • Don't be miserable. There are some people in this world that are never happy and they aren't satisfied until they have spread some of their misery. If you're a miserable person, please find another Forum that will welcome your negativity.
Final Thoughts:

The goal for this Forum is to become a destination where people in the Car Business can hang out with one another. It's a Forum that's designed to be a source of both entertainment and knowledge.

If you're already familiar with Internet Forums, jump in and share your knowledge.

If you're new to the concept of an Internet Forum, spend a day or two and surf the site to get a "feel" for how it works and where you should go to ask a question or respond to a post.

The Staff at DealershipForum.com hopes that our Forum becomes a spot you visit on a regular basis - whether it's to research a simple question or to discuss breaking news that impacts your job or your Dealership.
