Well my dream that Wolfgang Bernhard leads the Magna Group's buyout of Chrysler LLC from Cerberus is now officially dead. :(
News reports indicate that Bernhard is rejoining Daimler to become head of the Mercedes Benz van group. Wolfgang will report to Dieter Zetsche in his new position.
In hindsight, I don't know what to think regarding the reasons why Bernhard joined Magna as a consultant? My bet is that they were thinking about doing a deal with Cerberus - I guess we'll never know?
