I always try to keep my mind open to new ideas, but I don't think this concept will gain much traction.

Beyond the obvious concern about the cost of the program, I'd be concerned about what happens to the dealers and the OEMs once the incentive is over?

Sales would simply drop off a cliff - all of the people that wanted a car would have already bought one.

It seems there are other ideas floating around that may have a better chance of receiving Congressional approval. (Clunker Bill, Interest Rate Deduction, etc.)

On a side note, the Dealer that created this concept sure has a nice facility. :)

i gotta agree with x, sales would drop like a rock at the end. but at least the guy might get washingtons attention that we need to do something to get sales going.

also, i checked it out online, it is www.bergstromauto.com and this guy has just about every franchise you can think of, pretty impressive. bet he has got some pretty impressive bills to pay too.

squish thx for the assist.

I worked for this guy along time ago and he only goes top shelf, he builds some awsome stores, infact I worked at a store he had located in a mall. Now i think that same space has a Victoria Secrets in it, I think they are seeing more traffic than we did. :)

Perhaps he's well represented on the web, however reality is that they've layed off 1500+ and have pared back to 1/2 their size this time last year.

Lots of articles about their troubles in the Green Bay paper.

I'm a couple hours north of there and have been listening to the tale of woe for months now about how they've cut staff and closed stores. :(

Holy smokes, there aren't too many stores that are big enough to lay off 1500+ employees.

I've read so many stories from people that have been in the business for 30 - 50 years saying this is as bad as its ever been - it's really sobering. :(
