Here's a question for the guys/gals on the "Front Line" - Is the Lifetime Powertrain working to increasing traffic and vehicle sales?

I spend a great deal of time on the Internet reading various Forums and it seems like many of the customers feel that the Lifetime Warranty is just a gimick. Especially after Mr. Nardelli made the "Operationally Bankrupt" comment.

That said, the type of customer that posts on an Internet Forum may not be representative of the average customer.

So, back to the question - Is the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Working?

Initially, I thought it was the most aggressive new program I had ever heard of. Very gutsy move. But then reality set in. Joe sixpack don't really care. He will be a tradin' in 3-4 years and, and, who really cares? We had more positives from the 7/70 powertrain, I believe because it had numbers that the consumer could grasp.

I DO agree that the lifetime powertrain warranty should NOT be transferable to subsequent owners. If they want more warranty, let 'em buy it. We offer only Ford for Fords and Chrysler for Chryslers. Keeps things simple.

I agree - the initial rush of excitement for the program was short lived and seems to have completely died off. I don't think it's doing anything to build traffic/sales at this point.

In light of all the cost cutting efforts at Chrysler, I wouldn't be surprised if this program just disappeared when the 2009 vehicles are launched.
