I just read that Gresham Nissan/Subaru agreed to pay $100,000 to settle an age descrimination lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed by U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as part of the Federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
The lawsuit alleged that a manager at the Dealership repeated harassed a 62 year old employee because of his age, telling him that he was old and needed to turn up his hearing aid.
The Dealership settled the lawsuit and agreed to review their management policies.
This might be a good topic for your next Manager's Meeting. It's never right to demean or harass an employee and it's hard to fight a lawsuit when the other party has the backing of the U.S. Government.
