View Full Version : Will Chrysler and Nissan do a deal together?
There's been a great deal of coverage on the Internet since Chrysler's Nardelli made the "Operationally Bankrupt" comment. Many are suggesting that Cerberus is not too happy with their purchase and they may be looking for a buyer down the road. The name mentioned most often seems to be Nissan.
In some ways, it makes sense: Chrysler needs fuel efficient small cars - Nissan has them. Nissan needs bigger full size diesel trucks - Chrysler has them. Chrysler needs a "Car Guy" - Nissan has Carlos Ghosn.
It's too early to tell, but stranger things have happened.
There's no shortage of "buzz" in the car business these days.
Business Week added fuel to the rumors that Chrysler and Nissan are in negotiations to share product. The story further suggested that the two companies may merge if Cerberus decides to divest its interest in Chrysler LLC.

Here's another story that suggests that Nissan will buy Chrysler from Cerberus.

The reference to Nissan is at the bottom of the article.
In response to the speculation in the media that Nissan will eventually purchase Chrysler, LLC from Cerberus, Carlos Ghosn told reporters that Nissan has no interest in doing a major deal with Chrysler.
Mr. Ghosn commented that he felt the U.S. was in a recession and that the company is being very cautious about investments in the United States.
