Bill - Welcome aboard, it's great to have another member at DealershipForum.com :)

Do I understand that you're a single point Chrysler store - meaning you don't have Dodge or Jeep?

If so, that must mean that you have pressure from both of your manufacturers to consolidate. With Ford's push to merge Lincoln/Mercury with Ford and Chrysler's "Project Genesis" I bet you get to the point where you're tired of talking about consolidation. :)

They would like it, but we have had Chrysler for over 30 yrs and L/M over 26 yrs. But it is very tough going not having an entry level car to offer.

Welcome Bill - do you have any plans to avoid the hatchet of Project Genesis?

Holy smokes. If you can make it with nothing but a single point Chrysler store with Lincoln and Mercury, there's hope for the rest of us. :)

:) The owner of store is a man who does not know the meaning of the word "QUIT" or the phrase "i give up". This is a great attitude coming from the top. he has been in the business for over 50 yrs and he has successfully rode this roller coster. You gotta love that about the man, I know we do.

That's awesome. :)

There's no question that there was a time where the car business was so good that anyone with a Brand Sign could make a decent living.

Sadly, those days are gone and now it's a battle to determine who will survive. It sounds like your dealer is geared up for the fight.

Hi everyone. New to the forum as well, just wanted to say hello.

I've been doing F&I for 6 years or so, mostly on the Power Sports side. I made the leap to cars and moved to Marinette, WI in November.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and continuing my education here!

I started as a peep in a Kawasaki / Polaris store, moved to Honda / Yamaha where I got my start in F&I, so I know those 4 pretty well. Coming from NC though, no experience with snowmobiles. As far as PWC's go, you can't beat a Yamaha. Kawasaki runs a close second, and 3rd place is so far back from those 2 that I wouldn't advise you even looking at anything else.

No hook ups anymore though, sorry.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. This site is blocked at work (for now) but I'll be working on that little problem. ;)

 Heeeeeyyyyyyy, I was going to toast you back....where's the beer smiley?

My bad on the beer-smiley... and others. Those are from a boat forum I hang around. Some of them just fit the subject, it's a quick copy/paste.

Love my WaveRunner!

Ahhhhhhhh, I see. No worries, now that I know this forum supports those smileys, I have a spot to copy/paste some really amazing smileys.

This is the second request that I've had to add smilies in the past two weeks. :)

I'll work on it. I tried to add some additional smilies when I got the first request, but it looks like I'll have to get my forum development guy to do it for me.

I know that the forum is somewhat "bare" without any signatures or avatars, but I've been careful about the image of the forum since part of my "target audience" is Dealer Principals who may not have had much experience with Internet forums.

Thanks for the smilies link, I'll see if I can get them added.

I appreciate it, but I agree that we want to keep this a professional place where DP's will feel comfortable and welcome. It would be very nice to have their perspective on things.

Now I don't think smilies are all that important in the grand scheme of things, but they do lighten the tone at times. The important thing here is the information.

My apologies for getting sidetracked that fast, I want my posts to be informative and helpful, not juvenile garbage. :o

No worries, I like your smilies and plan to add them. :)

I just wanted to take the opportunity to explain to anyone else that reads this post why the forum has its current "look."

As the membership grows I want the site to evolve and show a little more personality. I just don't want to scare anyone off whose never been a member of a forum, MySpace, Facebook, etc.

And as before, I'm very happy to have you here and welcome you to our community. :)

Great site here! We need additional members with great input... and it appears our recent additions (newbies) are exactly that! Kewl!!!

Smileys, Avatars and Signatures are only icing ... this "cake" rocks just as she is. :D

:o Well thank you!

It's been awhile since I've been called a "newbie", but that's fun too. :p

Further greetings from Wisconsin! Those who know us, know that Miles and I are engaged.

Look forward to interacting with everyone.

I did F&I on the auto side for about 8 years, and then in Power Sports for about 2 1/2. Come to find that most of the "impressions" held toward PS from the auto side, are based on false assumptions. More on that later.

I've worked at dealerships for all the domestics, plus Honda, Toyota, VW, Hyundai and Suzuki re autos. In PS, Honda-Suzuki-Polaris.

Questions? Ask them. I'll answer. :)

Howdy, All!! Not from Wisconsin, but I can spit and hit it from here. Great forum X, thanks for a nice hangout for those of us who love the car biz.

I already know a few of you (Miles, JimD) and am hoping to meet many more.

I'm the F&I Director for a 7 store group in Northern Wisconsin and U.P. Michigan so I get around a bit. The running joke in the company is that my office has a windshield instead of a PC screen and a steering wheel instead of a keyboard.

Anyways.... HI GANG!! :D

Tom

It's all starting to make sense now......

I was reviewing some posts on the other forum and I kept seeing "I love you Jim" in Miles' signature. :)

OK, X-man has me set up now in the vendor section. Yes, I'm a vendor. :) Although I am a vendor with a decade "in the box", so I know where you folks are coming from.

Looking forward to the inter-action here!
