It's really sad the animals have to be destroyed but I understand the concern for public safety. The report in USA Today estimates that as many as 51 animals (tigers, lions, bears, etc.) may have been released.

The story also reported that the farm has been a thorn for the local authorities for years. There was no suicide note left by the owner of the farm.
