In an earlier thread I reminded CarGuyCo that Barrett-Jackson was holding their Auto Auction in Las Vegas while he was there for a factory meeting.

After a little bit of pondering I decided I'd take a quick trip to Las Vegas and check out tomorrow's auction myself. I've been to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale on two occasions and I've always wondered how Las Vegas compared.

I've also been wanting to head to Las Vegas to check out the Copart Auction facilities so this should be a great trip. :)

As a quick side note for this thread: Ticketmaster is EVIL. :happydevil:

How the Hell did I end up pay $23.90 for a ticket that had a face value of $15.00 - that's insane.

If I show up at the gate and they're selling tickets for $15.00 to the general public I'm going to be pissed. It's not the money, it's the fact that Ticketmaster provides absolutely no value for the massive surcharge they command. For my $8.90 in fees I'd expect to at least get a flashy QR code that I could use with my smartphone to get in the door. Sorry, there's no flashy QR code or anything equally cool, I get to stand in line at Will Call.

Sorry for the rant - I feel a little better now.

Funny you should bring up the subject. This firm was co-founded by one of my good childhood friends Lynsie Campbell. Definitely the way of the future.

When I first read this post on my Droid X last night I thought you were childhood friends with the founder of Ticketmaster  but then I read the article in your link. :)

I wish the people at Showclix the best of success. It's ironic how closely the story the founder describes parallels my experience - a customer who feels ripped off by Ticketmaster's outrageous fees and is further angered by Ticketmaster's inability to offer new technology.

If Showclix can offer lower fees and QR code technology I hope they slaughter their competition at Ticketmaster.

Yeah, that would have been cool. :)

When I think about it there are only a handful of people on the forum I've actually met. Hell, SHACOS has been on this forum since the very beginning and he's a Super Moderator but I've never met him. (I do know based on his posts, however, that he's tall and he likes to leave cores from the Parts Department on the Showroom Floor. :))

OK, they weren't selling tickets for $15 but they were selling them to walk-up customers for $21 - that's about $3 less than I paid.

Here's a note for the Google Search Engine - Don't use Ticketmaster for Barrett-Jackson - it's a ripoff.

Someday, I am going to a BJ sale! Let us know which is the best sale to attend, Vegas, Scottsdale, or Palm Beach.

That's a great idea. :)

Once I get caught up I think I'll start a new thread and do a comparison between the two Barrett-Jackson venues - both have their advantages and disadvantages.

What's a road trip without a few tourist pictures.... :)

I was thinking of Steve Biegler and Possum while I was checking out cars at Barrett-Jackson because they had three AMXs up for auction.

Here's a link to the cars:

Thanks for the links....I looked at the list before the sale and was amazed at the number of Prowlers that were there. The other one I liked was the little 64 Rambler, I think it had a 390 put in it. Wish I could have been there.

I looked at the list before the sale and was amazed at the number of Prowlers that were there.

I noticed that too - most of the Prowlers were pretty nice/low mileage units although one of them was disclosed as a Lemon Law Buyback which I thought was strange for a Barrett-Jackson car.

When I was at the Scottsdale Auction I remember they sold a really nice low mileage Prowler for $50K - it actually sold for more money than the Viper the customer also brought to the sale. The Prowler was painted in a great shade of red and included the Mopar Accessory trailer.

My bet is the high price of the Scottsdale Prowler brought all the other Prowlers out of the garage and to the sale. That said, the pricing of the Prowlers at Las Vegas seemed pretty soft - I think the high price paid in Scottsdale was an aboration and not reflective of the market.

The other one I liked was the little 64 Rambler, I think it had a 390 put in it. Wish I could have been there.

I saw that car and thought of you and possum. :)

I'm no expert when it comes to AMC but I remember walking up to that car and seeing the "390" emblem on the front fender and I was thinking "They never put a 390 in the Rambler, did they....?"

It was a cool looking car - definitely a sleeper. :shift:
