Wow, that has to be a P.R. guys nightmare. :(

Not only do you have a new '11 Durango ablaze, it happens in the middle of a parade while the Durango's pulling a float and the local TV news is there to record the entire event for the evening news.

Just sad! Is this the new quality they’ve been raving about?

If this happened at a dealer's new car clinic would SGS still count the clinic as 1 of the required 4 annual clinics?

Why didn't somebody close the hood??????

It's funny you say that....

If you watch the video you'll see the Durnago's hood closes on its own - I'm guessing the hydraulic struts that hold the hood open are designed to vent if they reach a certain temperature/pressure.

That said, by the time that happened it was too late to make any difference.

Oh I forgot its DC, nobody will help there.

So true....

The video shows a mid-sized fire extinguisher sitting on the corner sidewalk unused as D.C.'s finest walk around wondering if the fire will last long enough so they'll be able to file for overtime.

I just had a chance to read the link in your thread and was surprised to learn the Challenger caught fire in the assembly plant.

In fairness to Chrysler it doesn't appear the fire had anything to do with vehicle quality but I'm sure it's not the type of picture Auburn Hills wants to see on the Internet either. In the old days I remember cameras were prohibited from the assembly plants, I wonder if that rule is still in place?
