Didn't know if I should post this in the GM section or somewhere else, but here goes....

I read something that Ebay and GM are striking a deal that GM dealerships will be able to post their GM Certified used vehicles on ebay, with no individual listing fee, only a one time membership fee....or something like that.

Anyone have any more information on this? I am at a Chevrolet dealership and am very excited about this.

Thanks!

Mollechevrolet - thanks for the post.

The best information that I could find was from an Automotive News story that recapped events at NADA.

The article indicated that GM would begin listing the Certified Vehicles for 3,900 dealers on Ebay's site sometime in the Second Quarter. The announcement was made by GM's Director of Used Vehicle Activities, Mark Mathews, who indicated that the listings would be free for the dealers.

It sounds like a great deal.

Are you currently selling on Ebay?

Thanks again for the post and have a great week.

I am getting ready to start selling on ebay for this dealership. I was previously at another Chevrolet / Cadillac Dealership that I did list on ebay and just heard bits and pieces of this. Just trying to find out more information!

I am extremely excited!

That's great, I love your enthusiasm. :)

I've spent a lot of time reviewing vehicles on Ebay - it's interesting how some dealers seem "super successful" with lots of Feedback and others have dozens of listing but no sales?

Good luck with your project and please post a link when you have your first auction so we can check it out.

Great job - 16 Ebay Auctions up and running. :)

It looks like you have a nice selection of vehicles - I hope that the auctions bring in some buyers.

WOO HOO! My first sale already!

If you have the right vehicles, and own them right, ebay is a GREAT selling tool!

Wow, that was fast. Congratulations. :)

How far away does the customer live from your dealership? Is this a customer that you might have sold locally, or is it a customer that never would have found you without Ebay?

If you get a chance, please review the Ebay/Challenger thread in the Chrysler Sales section. Has Ebay made some changes to their fee structure?

Thanks again for the update and have a great week.

I am in MO and this buyer was in GA. I also am selling a 1971 Chevelle to a gentleman in VA.

Most of my buyers are not local.

That's awesome - anytime that you can sell a vehicle that's outside of your tradititional market that's "plus business."

Concerning Ebay, I've got mixed emotions. I know that there are a number of dealers that have been very successful but it appears that there is also a great deal of discontent and frustration with recent changes made by Ebay.

I read one report that indicated that Ebay was one of the busiest booths at last year's NADA and that this year it was almost empty?

The new format is confusing and can make searching for vehicles hard. I believe they are working to improve it and still need to work the kinks out.

I wish they would just come down on their fees!

Concerning fees, I remember selling one of my personal vehicles on Ebay a few years ago and the fees were $25 to list and an additional $25 if sold. A far cry from the $90 that they charge now.

For those that might be interested in selling on Ebay after following this thread, I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that Ebay has their own forum for Questions and Answers.

The Ebay forum can be found here: http://forums.ebay.com/db1/forum.jspa?forumID=20

The forum does seem to contain a fair amount of "off-topic" material but I still think there's some valuable information there if you are thinking about selling on Ebay.

Surprisingly, there were a number of posts that were anti-Ebay and anti-PayPal. To their credit, I guess Ebay doesn't remove negative posts. :)

I have been a member of the ebay motors message boards for years. What a great group of people!

You're right though...lots of OT posts. And that's OK.

It is nice to see dealership-specific stuff that I find here though.

I was really surprised that Ebay didn't edit the negative posts. There was one thread with a title of "The new Ebay Motors SUCKS" and I thought for sure that it would be deleted - but it's still there. That's good though, I'm glad they let their members vent about some of Ebay's mistakes.

I smiled when I read your comment about a "great group of people." That's my goal for this site. Car people connecting with one another based on something they have in common - same franchise, same job, same location, etc. It may take awhile for it to happen, but I know that there's a need for a site like this. :)

Thanks for the post and have a great week.
