When I was surfing the Internet this morning I was reminded that today's the beginning of Summer and the longest day of the year. If you love sunlight, today is as good as it's going to get. :)

I love the long days and find it's a little depressing knowing each day is going to be getting a little shorter until December 21st.

Concerning Summer, I'm afraid people living in Seattle may no longer fully understand the concept. I received an e-mail from my dad the other day that Seattle has gone more than 270 days without a day over 75 degrees and there's nothing in the forecast that shows much hope for the next 10 days. :(

Tell him this person from Texas will gladly trade him all the 95-105F days he wants. I hate summers down here, and would think I was in heaven if it was 75F.

I think my parents would have traded with you - yesterday's HIGH temperature in Seattle was 56 degrees. :(

I do understand your point, however, and I enjoy the high temperatures only if the humidity is low. To me, 95 degrees in Arizona/Nevada is comfortable but that's because the humidity is low and it seems like there's always a breeze in the air.

Concerning Seattle, there was discussion a few years back that one of the major bridges near downtown needed to be retro-fitted with suicide-prevention fences. One of the points cited by the advocates of the project was the protection of people below from falling bodies.

To be clear, Seattle's a great place but the weather can be depressing.

100* plus. But, it will cool down to 85* after dark! Jump in a car on the lot, and grab the wheel...............its liquid.

I had no idea the weather in Seattle was that bad. 270 days?!

Good Lord. I'm not a big fan of winter but I do love having actual seasons here in New England.

Normally the weather's not that bad in Seattle and they'd typically have a few nice days in April and May but this year's been really cold. I know some people up there who were bragging about the mild winter they had, I guess they're paying for it now....

I love that weather! I'd trade this dry 90 degree weather in Denver for that any day! Of course, I'm from the west coast and the fog, so I'm allowed to be weird.

I read that Seattle's record-breaking cold streak with 273 days below 75 degrees was broken yesterday when the temperature reached 77. :)

The ability to bask in the sun was short lived, however. Tomorrow's high temperature is forecasted to be 65 and there's rain predicted in five of the next seven days.

And to SHACOS, if you're willing to trade 90 degree sunshine for 56 degree rain, I'd tend to agree that living in the Northwest fog has messed-up your mind... :rolley:
