News reports indicate that Josh "Chop" Towbin will open a new Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Dealership in Las Vegas. For the full news report - click here (http://www.fox5vegas.com/news/22639729/detail.html)

The report indicated the dealership will be named Prestige C/J/D and it will be located in Northwest Las Vegas. I wonder if Towbin will use the old Integrity C/J/D location?

As we covered in other threads, Chop became a legend when his dealership was featured in the King of Cars TV series. His current dealership, Towbin Dodge, is normally one of the Top 10 volume stores in the West BC and he's a Dealer Council representative for Nevada.

Did the other Vegas stores close with BK or b/c of an other issue?

Great question, the answer depends on where the new dealership is.

One of the CJD dealers Chrysler terminated in Las Vegas as part of their bankruptcy was an active dealership and the other was already closed due to financial problems.

I think Towbin's new dealership is going to replace the former Integrity CJD. If that's the case, then the new dealership is replacing one that failed prior to being designated as OLDCO.

As a side note, here's a thread on Integrity CJD when it was first announced they were closing - click here (http://www.dealershipforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1070) The final post includes a picture I took of the store the last time I was in Las Vegas and mentions that the rent factor was over $300K/month.

Chop could end up with two CDJ Points. If I recall from his show "King of Cars" their is a Chrysler Jeep store right next door to Towbin in the auto mall.

Also Towbin closed it's Hummer store and switch to Smart vehicles out of the location.

And his father the started it all passed away a few months back as well. So it sounds like THE CHOPPER AND BLUE GENIE are on the move across town then.

"Josh “CHOP” Towbin, of Towbin Automotive said that opening a new dealership at a time when others are closing puts the company in the unique position of helping to strengthen the local economy by creating much needed jobs."

Sounds like he's talking out of both sides of his mouth since his closure last year put 118 people out of work.

I can't remember, what store did he close last year?

I remember that the Towbins terminated their dealer agreement with Hummer but I'm pretty sure they opened a Smart dealership at the same location.

Oops, missed this post. :o (I thought I remembered something about the Towbins replacing Hummer with Smart.)

Concerning the neighboring C/J store that's next to Towbin Dodge, you're right. The dealership is Chapman C/J and it's no more than 300 yards away from Towbin Dodge. I always thought it was strange that Chrysler allowed two single-point dealers to survive the OLDCO cuts when they were making such a big deal about "Project Genesis."

In my opinion it's just one more example that illustrates how arbitrary Chrysler's OLDCO selection process was.

I checked on this when I was rolling through Vegas and it looks like Towbin put their new CJD dealership at their old Infinity location - they didn't use the old Integrity CJD dealership.

It appears that Towbin has filled an open point that was created by one of the 789 OLDCO terminations. In fact, I think one of the rejected dealers is in arbitration.

I'm sure there are details I don't know, but I've always liked Josh Towbin and wish he wasn't involved in back-filling a rejected open point. :(
