While there have been several dealers who've testified before Congress, the recent testimony by Dan Kiekenapp from Tacoma Dodge caught my attention for the following reasons:
Tacoma Dodge is very close to where I live - I've known about this store and their success for years
Tacoma Dodge and Timberline Dodge were the two biggest OLDCO surprises in Washington and Oregon
Mr. Kiekenapp was the only person I heard testify who suggested that his OLDCO designation may have been because he was an occasional outspoken critic of Chrysler or their business practices
Despite everything, Mr. Kiekenapp was still speaking about the virtues of Chrysler's product line
While there have been numerous stories in the media suggesting that Washington D.C. politics may have played a role in a dealer's OLDCO designation, not much has been said about politics within Chrysler and the Business Centers.
Finally, I have to give credit to a person who can still be objective about the virtues of Chrysler's vehicles after being a victim of their injustice. I know that if I were in the same circumstance I wouldn't have been able to muster those words.
